Grammy-winning country star Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts shows us the man behind the hits in this conversation. Though the world sees Jay onstage playing sold-out shows and winning awards, his life has had plenty of road blocks and disappointments.

As he writes in his new book, Shotgun Angels, Jay wants people to take hope from his story and understand that “failure is not fatal.” Through losses in his career, losses of loved ones and now relishing his role as husband and father, Jay shares how his faith has led the way.

He also turns in a mean Peter Cetera impression.

Amy Grant

Amy Grant has us over to her house for tea and an intimate conversation covering everything from faith and mentorship to cooking and skincare tips. What a gift! It was an opportunity for us to share which of Amy’s songs and stories have impacted us the most and also soak up the wisdom that just seems to spill out of Amy every time she speaks. She shares (sometimes hilarious) stories from her friendships with heroes Minnie Pearl and Carole King as well as encouragement to light the creative spark in all of us. Oh, and we have a good cry over Amy’s Christmas classic, “Breath of Heaven,” as well.

Claire Gibson

Author Claire Gibson is here to talk about her debut novel, Beyond the Point. The book tells the story of three women, Dani, Hannah and Avery, who meet and form a deep bond while attending the United States Military Academy at West Point. The story follows them as they work to maintain those friendships while facing the demands of relationships, careers and an earth-shattering tragedy.

Claire grew up at West Point, where her father was a professor, so the novel is based on her recollections as well as more than 20 interviews Claire conducted with female graduates at West Point. She hopes Beyond the Point will give readers a three-dimensional view of women in the military beyond the stereotypes we see in pop culture and the media at large.

Claire also poured her own experience of dealing with infertility and ultimately deciding to adopt a child with her husband, Patrick, into Beyond the Point, which is a big reason why the passages on grief and faith ring so true. Claire previously wrote about her adoption experience in a piece for Marie Claire. Find more of her work here.

Claire also shares some advice for writers and explains how she learned to quiet the inner critic in her head while writing.
